In the south Indian Peninsula the Malabar coast is the richest in vegitation and has been famous from anciant times as the store house of valuable medicinal plants and timber trees. The native state of Travancore comprises a large section of the coast and the main portion of the Western Ghats falls within its limits. The author has given Botanical discription of the flowering plants of the region. there are 3535 different plants listed. Along with their Botanical description the author has given when avilable the english name locality flowering season and use.
