The women movement started against atrocities against women, dowry rape and eve-teasing. The women organisations took up the cause of women when were burnt for not bringing adequate dowry. Women represent 50% of world adult population and a third of official labour force, they perform nearly two-third of all working hours, receive only a tenth of world income and own less than one per cent of world property. This is true more or less about India too. Women is the sufferer in the hands of men all over the world. Perhaps, women were free and equal in quite very old times. Gradually, the women were treated as inferior and moreover, they treated themselves inferior.
