India being a huge subcontinent is wellknown for its charm and beauty having deep Roots in its diversity. Being a social gathering, normally an Annual feature, the people are Clad in colourful costumes and their festivities mark a remarkable phenomenon. It thus depicts a colourful and wonderful World in different Parts of the Indian subcontinent, from North to South and West to East. The book is carrying five volumes covering all the 28 States and 7 Union Territories of India with detail explanation.
Efforts have been made to record in a wider context all the festivals viz., which are very prominent and others not wellknown. Though these fairs and festivals are many to enumerate but have been caught in all the five Volumes as Pongal in South, Diwali in North, Ganesh Chatturthi in West, Durga Puja and Bihu in East and North-East Region which are very important and Nerbudda fair, Ganesh Puja fair, Durgamma Jatra, Marti Jatra are among the less known festivals of different regions.
Fairs and festivals are so colourful that it is very difficult to explain merely in words. To bridge this gap we have tried to give state-wise coloured photographs of different fairs and festivals celebrated in India.
