Indological studies have great signigicance in knowing the past history of this country. Various branches of Indology, such as, Indian history, archaeology, historical geography, Vedic and classical lanugage and literature, religion and philosophy, ethnology, technical sciences, fine arts and India's cultural relations with foreign countries have given a new orientation to these studies and served the useful purpose of cultural integration.
