This book on Indian History, now entitled Indian History and Culture, is completing thirty-two years of continuous publication, during which period it has undergone twenty-eight editions, incorporating the latest historical researches and changing perspectives on Indian History. Initially, this book was written for candidates competing for the Union and the Provincial Civil Services Examinations. However, in spite of the changes in the scheme of these examinations, from time to time, the book did not lose its relevance. As a matter of fact it found much wider acceptance by the general readers as well as candidates appearing for the UGC's N.E.T., aspirants for the Civil Services and University students. Consequently, for the last few years, there has been greater emphasis on the revision of the chapters in the narrative format, which has served as a prelude to the publication of this new publication entitled Indian History and Culture. |
