DESCRIPTION
This book tells the inside truth of the Japanese occupation of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands during World War II, an undiscovered fact of Indian history, although the Andamans and particulary, the Cellular Jail and its association with the Indian Freedom Movement, have been a part of the collective Indian consciousness. But what is not known generally is that the Imperial Japanese Army, after its blitzkrieg victories in South East Asia-Singapore, Borneo, Malaya and finally, Burma, also landed in the Andamans in March 1942, and occupied them till October 1945 and they were here even after the unconditional Japanese surrender on 15th August, 1945, till the Allied army took them back. The book also deals with a detailed account of the period of occupation & an exploration of the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose connection.
