The aim of the book is to lay bare the concept of philosophy discernible in the Jaina tradition. The basic approach has" been to examine the Jaina concept of philosophy by analyzing some seminal concepts in Jaina philosophy, acknowledging the fact that a rigid dichotomy between the content and method of philosophy cannot be drawn.
The argument of the book is that despite the misunderstandings that surround Jainism in general and the doctrines of Anekantavada, Nayavada and Syadvada in particular, by employing the framework of the contemporary theme of metaphilosophy and on a close study of the three specialist contributions of Jainism, the constructive-critical function of philosophy espoused by the Jaina thinkers emerges clearly. |
