DESCRIPTION
Among the Sufis, we have classical scholars, whose life and works have deeply influenced the thought of the East and West. Ibn al-Arabi (d. 1240) who inspired medieval western scholars, compiled the following beautiful poem: My heart is capable now of all forms. It is pasture for the gazelles. A convent for the Christian monks. A temple for idols. The Kabah of pilgrims. The table of Mosaic law. The book of Quran. I am for myself the religion of love. Al-Ghazzali (d. 1111) made amazing observations in the field of psychology and psycho-therapy. Professor Yahia Haschmi is of the view that the Sufi literature contains the idea of evolution, the conception of the atom, of a fourth dimension of relatively, and even of the space travel. Our purpose in writing this book is to shed light on the principles and practices of all mystics, particularly the Sufis. This Para-normal communion with the Divine Beloved is possible on attainment of Marifat through the grace of God and the blessings of saints and sages. We expect that the casual readers of this book would develop an urge in themselves to search for the three gifts-Sophia, Gnosis, and Ishq, in their own monastic and mystic traditions. For had not the saints blessed us, we would still have been living in fool’s paradise, seeking only intellectual gratification. No trifling word is said to a master of awareness, but he will grasp its wisdom. If hundred chapters of wisdom are read to an ignorant it will reach his ears as a trifle.
